Match Report
Thurlow Nunn Division 1 South
Hutton 2-0 NW London
Solomon Asomah 58' (Hutton)
Billy Titley 90' (Hutton)
NW London ended their 2024/25 campaign with a 2-0 away defeat to Hutton, who secured their place in the playoffs with the win.
Coming into the match, NWL had struggled for form, registering just one victory in their previous eight outings. The toll of a long season was evident, with injuries reducing the squad to just two substitutes on the bench.
Despite the recent run, NWL started brightly and dominated the early proceedings, passing with purpose and showing more energy than their hosts. Hutton, however, nearly capitalised on a couple of misplaced passes, but goalkeeper William Barker was alert to deny them twice.
Emmanuel Okoko nearly gave NWL the lead with an ambitious long-range effort that caught the Hutton goalkeeper off guard, only just missing the target.
The second half began much like the first ended, with NWL continuing to enjoy the lion's share of possession. But in the 58th minute, the match turned on a moment of misfortune. Barker spilled a routine collection inside his box, allowing Hutton to pounce and take the lead.
NWL responded with intent, pushing for an equaliser. Their best chance came through Maksym Fostyk, whose effort at the near post was well saved. Hutton, however, stood firm defensively, denying NWL any real sight of goal.
In the closing stages, Ashiqur Rahman's pass was intercepted, sparking a Hutton counter that sealed the match—and their place in the playoffs—with a second goal.
For NW London, it's a frustrating end to a season that once promised more. While they've improved on last year's finish, a poor run of form in the final stretch turned a promising mid-season position into another case of “what could have been.”
