Match Report
Thurlow Nunn Division 1 South - Wednesday 7th January
NW London 0-1 AS London
Wilson Medndes 7' (AS London)
The Early Exchange
The "White Hart Lane derby" started at a high tempo. AS London looked the sharper of the two sides early on, forcing NW London keeper Will Barker into a smart smothering save following an intercepted deflection.
The deadlock was broken shortly after. A failed clearance from the NW London backline allowed a speculative 25-yard strike; Barker parried the initial effort, but Wilson Mendes was quickest to the rebound, slotting home to give AS London the lead.
The Turning Point
The momentum shifted dramatically when an off-the-ball incident resulted in a straight red card for an AS London center-back. Facing ten men, NW London began to dominate possession, repeatedly trying to spring the offside trap. Arianit Krasniqi had a golden opportunity after dummying two defenders, but his finish lacked conviction.
Despite the pressure, AS London nearly doubled their lead just before the break when their striker beat Barker, only to see the effort crash off the crossbar.
Second Half: An Exercise in Frustration
NW London came out for the second half with intent. Krasniqi won a penalty after being brought down by the goalkeeper, but Burcea sent the spot-kick high over the bar—a massive letdown in a crucial moment.
As the half progressed, it became a total siege:
Tesfameskel saw two big chances go begging, one due to a heavy touch and another fired straight at the keeper.
Krasniqi hit the crossbar with a follow-up strike.
Farhat came agonizingly close, curling a shot off the inside of the woodwork.
Final Whistle
In the dying stages, a goal-bound effort from Farhat accidentally struck his own teammate, Mills, and Krasniqi again missed the target on the rebound. Despite an absolute onslaught, the ten men of AS London held firm to take all three points, leaving NW London to rue a mountain of missed opportunities.
