As the 2024–25 season concludes, NW London can confirm that club captain James Allen and vice-captain Valentin Burcea are among the players set to leave, with the club opting not to re-sign them for the upcoming campaign.
James Allen joined at the start of the 2021–22 season, first featuring in the club's historic treble-winning year at Step 7 of the National League System. Over the course of his time with NW London, he made more than 80 appearances and was appointed captain ahead of the 2023–24 season. A leader on and off the pitch, he scored 9 goals and became a highly respected figure around the club.
Vice-captain Valentin Burcea departs after three seasons. Joining as an 18-year-old in NW London's first season in the NLS, he developed into a versatile and impactful player. Initially deployed as a full-back, he later transitioned into a defensive midfield role under manager Wasim Khan, showcasing creativity and composure from both positions. He registered 18 assists during his time with the club and was a consistent contributor in key matches, appearing 94 times for the club.
Also departing is attacking midfielder Lucas Gonzalez, a member of the 2021–22 treble-winning squad alongside Allen. Gonzalez was a dynamic presence in midfield and contributed several important goals during his time at the club.
Manager Wasim Khan shared his thoughts on the departing players:
"We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all three players. Each has spent at least three seasons with NW London and played an important role in helping the club establish itself as a respected force at this level of football.
They all are departing at a good age where they can progress their football & achieve many things.
Of course, every season brings change. We're already working on developing a squad that can challenge for trophies next season."
